EDC Announces Appointment of New Head of Business Development

To expand its knowledge transfer and commercial activities, EDC has now appointed Dr Sohail Hajatdoost as Head of Business Development.

A chartered chemist, Sohail brings more than 15 years experience of working in industry in a variety of senior and executive roles, and a proven track record of success to his role as Head of Business Development. Before joining EDC, Sohail worked for companies such as Corus Group, Glaxo Smithkline Pharmaceuticals and Walkers Crisps. He has also held an academic post at the Materials Research Institute at Sheffield Hallam University.

Sohail is a senior member of Royal Society of Chemistry. His qualifications include a PhD in application of vibrational spectroscopy chemical techniques for analysis of various manufacturing materials and products. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Applied Chemistry.

Sohail’s role at EDC will include building networks in high value manufacturing sectors, developing specialist training programmes and designing and implementing a number of public-private sector initiatives.
