Certificate in Sustainable Design Innovation Lectures

EDC delivered two guest lectures for professional designers in Ireland for the Design Ireland Skillnet on Sustainable Design. Primarily this course aims to up skill practicing design professionals in the area of Sustainable Design Practice. Students on this programme are typically designers, design managers, marketing managers and other business managers with responsibility for new product development (NPD), company strategy and design.

Simon O’Rafferty delivered a lecture on the environmental product policy and its impact on design practice. This lecture gave the designers an overview on national an international policy while focussing on specific European policies impacting on design. Frank O’Connor delivered a lecture on the marketing of ecodesign. This lectures transferred experiences from the industry case studies in Wales.

Since 2004, the Design Ireland Skillnet, as the training arm of Design Ireland, has been organising subsidised, bespoke tailored specialised training courses and networking events and seminars for the Irish Design Industry. The primary focus is to help designers reduce costs, achieve economies of scale, increase sales and turnover, enhance competitiveness in both domestic and international markets, and identify and absorb best practice, through training and networking events.
