Cardiff Design Festival 2009

The Cardiff Design Festival is an annual celebration that provides a showcase of design talent in Wales. This year's festival will take place in the month of October and a range of exciting events have already been planned.

EDC is collaborating with local designers on a sustainable innovation event for the festival. The initial team involves EDC, attic 2 and Hoffi but the planning meetings will be open to anyone interested in taking part. Weekly planning for this event is underway and will incorporate ideas and insights from a number of cross-disciplinary experts. The idea of the planning meetings is to not be too prescriptive at an early stage and allow as much creative input as possible.

Another event to be hosted during the month of October in Cardiff are the Design Festival Showcase & Awards. This year the festival organisers received over 130 submissions from 53 companies in 10 different categories. Judging has been completed for the awards and winners will be announced at the Awards Evening on 5th October 2009.

The Cardiff Design Festival is an annual celebration that provides a showcase of design talent in Wales. The event is run by UWIC’s Cardiff School of Art and Design in collaboration with partners from the creative industries and other public bodies and private businesses. It covers areas as wide-ranging as web, fashion, graphics, branding, furniture and interiors design.
